چکیده

(150-250 words) Liquid delivery through interconnected pore network is essential for various interfacial transport applications ranging from energy storage to evaporative cooling. The liquid transport performance in porous media can be significantly improved through the use of hierarchical morphology that leverages transport phenomena at different length scales. Traditional surface engineering techniques using chemical or thermal reactions often show nonuniform surface nanostructuring within three-dimensional pore network due to uncontrollable diffusion and reactivity in geometrically complex porous structures. Here, we demonstrate hierarchical architectures on the basis of crystalline copper inverse opals using an electrochemistry approach, which offers volumetric controllability of structural and surface properties within the complex porous metal. The electrochemical process sequentially combines subtractive and

Transport Property Estimation of Non-Uniform Porous Media

In this work a glass micromodel which its grains and pores are non-uniform in size, shape and distribution is considered as porous medium. A two-dimensional random network model of micromodel with non-uniform pores has been constructed. The non-uniformity of porous model is achieved by assigning parametric distribution functions to pores throat and pores length, which was measured using ima...

Liquid-like cationic sub-lattice in copper selenide clusters

Super-ionic solids, which exhibit ion mobilities as high as those in liquids or molten salts, have been employed as solid-state electrolytes in batteries, improved thermoelectrics and fast-ion conductors in super-capacitors and fuel cells. Fast-ion transport in many of these solids is supported by a disordered, 'liquid-like' sub-lattice of cations mobile within a rigid anionic sub-lattice, ofte...

Control of Partial Coalescence of Self-Assembled Metal Nano-Particles across Lyotropic Liquid Crystals Templates towards Long Range Meso-Porous Metal Frameworks Design

The formation of purely metallic meso-porous metal thin films by partial interface coalescence of self-assembled metal nano-particles across aqueous solutions of Pluronics triblock lyotropic liquid crystals is demonstrated for the first time. Small angle X-ray scattering was used to study the influence of the thin film composition and processing conditions on the ordered structures. The structu...

Effects of the Framework and Mesoporosity on the Catalytic Activity of Hierarchical Zeolite Catalysts in Benzyl Alcohol Conversion

Zeolites are crystalline inorganic porous materials formed by TO4 tetrahedra (T=Si, Al, P, etc.) with ordered microporous structures. As a result of their tunable acidities and framework structures, zeolites have been used widely in catalysis and molecular adsorption/separation as well as several other emerging applications. However, the pore size of a zeolite is usually smaller than 2 nm, whic...

Diffusion in hierarchical mesoporous materials: applicability and generalization of the fast-exchange diffusion model.

Transport properties of cyclohexane confined to a silica material with an ordered, bimodal pore structure have been studied by means of pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance. A particular organization of the well-defined pore structure, composed of a collection of spatially ordered, spherical mesopores interconnected via narrow worm-like pores, allowed for a quantitative analysis of ...
